Postby Basi Multitrack » Mon Aug 03, 2015 3:10 pm

Hello again:
Can I use "my Eleanor Rigby" to participate in the contest?

Thank you

Hi Basi, thanks for your message.

Your Eleanor Rigby song is absolutely brilliant, but for this competition one criterion is for the cover to be both very mainstream and very contemporary, and Eleanor Rigby is not a strong fit with this criterion.

A good guide for a cover song would be any song that has appeared in billboard 100 in the past couple of years: http://www.billboard.com/charts/hot-100

We can understand if people find this criterion restricting or don't like this type of music, but we think it is a worthwhile experiment to try and there is always room to twist material that one dislikes into something fresh and interesting :-)

Please let us know if you have any other questions!

PS: if you like strings you should definitely try the free Bowed Strings synth: http://auug.info/wiki/doku.php/public/b ... r_ensemble

It allows for much more expressive control than is possible with the iOS GarageBand string sounds.
